The Responsive Ecologies Lab @ Ryerson University

Early Childhood Studies Professor Jason Nolan is engaged in making sense of the world around him and finding solutions to everyday problems. His unique approach focuses on 'fixing' the environment – and not the individual – through design processes that focus on the goals and needs of individuals.

Professor Nolan directs Ryerson’s RE/Lab in conjunction with Ali Mazalek and runs EDGE Lab. His intersensory research spaces and projects challenge us to think differently: to inquire, examine and reflect upon thoughts and ideas in the development of what he calls “social technologies”. These social technologies involve the creation of custom adaptations for special needs children – innovations that help children with disabilities engage with the people and spaces around them.
